DNA nanotechnology and molecular programing: an introduction
Alexis Vlandas
Institut d'Electronique, Micro-Electronique, et Nanotechnologies (IEMN)
DNA as emerged as a versatile tool for a wide variety of nanotechnology related applications in the last decade. This talk will first introduce its uses as a programmable material to produce 3-D nano-objects. It will then showcase how the same hybridization capabilities it possesses can be used to create molecular programs using different implementation strategies. Specifically, it will describe in detail the PEN framework which relies on chemical reaction networks involving DNA strands and 3 enzymes to create out of equilibrium molecular programs. Finally, having restricted itself to the this framework , it will show how at IEMN we use microfluidics, surface chemistry and micro-fabricated devices in conjunction with molecular programming to control increasingly complex systems.
